Below you will find topic specific mental health and educational strategies that you may find helpful.  In the spirit of collaborative dialog, I have created this space to capture effective strategies and products that have been helpful in the field.  Please feel free to comment or add to the enclosed content.  If you would like to submit a strategy for review, simply email me or comment in the space provided below.  The sharing of effective approaches can only help children and adolescents reach their true potential.  All submissions will be identified with the name of the person submitting and please accredited to the appropriate source.

  • Warning, Choice, Action – This systematic and multi-stepped solution for families with behavioral issues has been used in hundreds of homes.  Based on predictability, joining with the child (rather than against) and good co-parenting practices many behavioral habits have been changed in a matter of weeks.  Extending the methodology to the school environment creates an even greater momentum for change and help minimize behavioral carryover from one environment to the other.  Successfully used with children and families struggling with ADHD, anxiety, panic attacks, oppositional defiant disorder, spectrum disorders, aggressive behavior and divorced families. Submitted by Ben Hillyard
  • Collaborative Problem Solving by Ross Greene – Dr. Greene has developed an effective and engaging approach to address difficult behavior.  His website can be found here.
